Making Connections with Hebrew

Research shows that when children are young, speaking two languages strengthens their ability to solve problems, focus attention, reason creatively and process abstract information. At Perelman, our dual curriculum gives students the opportunity to explore history and learn how to communicate in Hebrew in relevant, meaningful ways. Students in fourth grade recently completed an activity in which they reflected on what modern Hebrew word best resonates with them. They then wrote their selected word and drew an accompanying image.

One student selected the word “tikvah” meaning “hope,” which represented both her middle name and her connection with Israel and hope for peace. Our students are learning Hebrew in relevant and meaningful ways and are finding individual outlets to connect with the language.
