Admissions

Applying

Perelman is home to a broad spectrum of Jewish families, with a wide range of socioeconomic and religious practices. This diversity strengthens our school community and adds a unique dimension to the curriculum.

Joining the Perelman Family

Students generally enter our school in Junior Kindergarten (Ganon), Kindergarten (Gan) or First Grade, choosing either the Forman Center or the Stern Center. Junior Kindergarten students are required to be four years old by September 15 of the year they enter. Kindergarten students are required to be five years old by September 15 of the year they enter. Students entering First Grade must be six years old by September 15 of the year they enter.

We also welcome new students from other independent and public schools into our dual-language program in any grade, regardless of their Hebrew proficiency.

Application Process

There are three main components to the Perelman admission process for students entering Grades K-5*:

  • Junior Kindergarten (Ganon) / Kindergarten (Gan)

Students entering Ganon/Gan are scheduled to take part in one of our Visiting Days. This in-house screening lasts 1½ hours and gives the school and students the opportunity to begin to get to know each other. During the screening, parents are invited to meet informally with administrators, teachers and current parents. Late applicants who miss the scheduled screening may be required to have a psycho-educational evaluation by a licensed psychologist (WPPSII).
  • First Grade

Students entering first grade are scheduled for a visit to our school at which they are evaluated for first grade readiness.  Applicants to first grade may be required to have a psycho-educational evaluation by a licensed psychologist (WPPSII).
  • Grades 2-5

Students entering grades 2-5 are required to spend two consecutive days visiting our school. During the visit, applicants participate in all classroom activities.
