Creating with Purpose

Perelman Jewish Day School
Perelman students expanded their maker skills by learning how to sew. Across all grades, students explored patterning and hand sewing resulting in sock puppets, name plates, constellation pillows, and wall hangings. Upper school students went a step further and learned the basics of machine sewing through a Tikkun Olam project in which they sewed pillowcases to be donated to CHOP. Integrating making with giving and creating with compassion nurtures students' understanding that their actions can make a positive impact on others.
