Second Graders Enjoy a Civics Lesson from Josh Shapiro ‘95
Forman Center parent, Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro ’95, visited the school on Friday, speaking to second graders about the role of the President and our democratic process. He began by asking the students about the job of the president. He explained the process of electing a president and brought sample ballots to review so students could experience what it looks like inside a voting booth. Then each student had the opportunity to cast their own ballot, voting either for Kazoos or Rockets. They learned about the electoral college, how votes get counted, and what would happen if there were to be a tie. Students thoroughly enjoyed this interactive civics lesson and look forward to voting in their own school-wide mock election.
