5th Grade Students Conduct Dissections in the Science Lab
Perelman fifth graders are fearless in the science lab — even when it comes to dissection!
For their science unit on the human body, student scientists learned all about each part of the eye and how it functions. They also welcomed Perelman parent and oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Mark Krakauer, who shared his expertise and answered students’ questions as they dissected real pig eyes.
And they didn’t stop there! Students dissected frogs, applying what they learned about anatomy into their science lab experience.
By the end of fifth grade, our students have had six years of hands-on STEAM learning — sparking interest in scientific fields they will continue to explore in middle school and beyond!
