Rabbi Josh Warshawsky, acclaimed Jewish musician, song leader and teacher of Torah, shared his talents with our students at Stern and Forman last week. Our students were captivated by his original melodies and inspiring teachings about the power of music in prayer.
Rabbi Warshawsky engaged a group of fifth-graders by teaching a melody and hand motions for Modeh Ani (the morning prayer for renewal) and then asking them to consider how the hand motions conveyed the meaning of the prayer. The answers were amazing, ranging from “It feels like I’m trying to catch my soul” to “I’m reaching up to touch the sun.”
We hope Rabbi Warshawsky’s spark will inspire you and your children to sing together. Ask them to share some of his music with you!
