Fourth Grade Kabbalat Tikkunim

At their recent Kabbalat Tikkunim ceremonies, fourth grade students each received their own tikkun - a book used to prepare for chanting from the Torah. After learning the system of cantillation/trope, the students expertly read from the Torah for the first time during our morning tefilah (prayer) service.

Our 4th grade students will put their new tikkunim to immediate use as they assume the responsibility from our 5th graders, and continue on as our Torah readers for the remainder of the school year. It is both the passing of a baton and the planting of a seed that we will continue to nurture!

Perelman Jewish Day School is committed to being a place of serious, creative learning of Jewish texts. Through the generosity of the Kriger Book Fund, a different Jewish book is given to students each year, beginning in Gan, assuring that by the time they graduate, students will own a substantial Jewish library.
