Second grade students discover the beauty of gardening
Perelman Jewish Day School
Second graders were excited to learn from a surprise guest - Science teacher, Ms. Moskowitz’s dad! He spoke to the students about gardening and composting to supplement their unit about seeds.
They discussed the compost process – the need for worms and air to create usable soil. Mr. Moskowitz shared his love of gardening with the students, showing them how to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes and even jalapenos. Students asked question about how the smallest seeds can grow into a towering tree and were proud to show Mr. Moskowitz the peas they recently planted.
