Head's Welcome

Looking Forward

Thank you for visiting our website! We are excited to give you a glimpse into all that a Perelman education has to offer.

I am humbled, honored, and proud to serve as Perelman’s Head of School. What drew me to Perelman was everything in its mission. The idea that our students are Powered by Perelman– a rich academic experience rooted in Jewish values and practice like the one I, myself, had the privilege of receiving as a child growing up in Chicago. And, even more than that, Perelman is the warmest community of which I’ve ever been a part. What makes Perelman so special is the people, and to be able to lead this incredible community is truly an honor.

Another piece of that special engine that powers Perelman, and something we do here better than anywhere, is instill a love of Judaism–our traditions and values, and a pride in being Jewish. We imbue in each of our students a strong Jewish identity.

The idea that Perelman is a special community is nothing new. The community we have here is warm and welcoming like no other. The community we have here holds each other up during difficult times. This is what fuels our students' education. We want our students to feel comfortable and safe, and we want them to take risks! We want them to build friendships, and we want them to engage in a “good struggle.” Children learn well and reach their fullest potential when they feel the warm embrace of community, and in no place does that happen better than here. And in no other place are students doing this in two languages–interpreting Jewish texts, dialoguing, debating, and discovering who they are! It’s why of all the schools out there, a Perelman Jewish day school education is the best way to educate a young mind and soul.

Our talented educators are teaching and nurturing the future Jewish leaders of tomorrow, and I’m so proud of the way we do it and why we do it–because the world needs courageous, bold, resilient, inquisitive and compassionate leaders now more than ever.

B’Shalom,
Mitch
