4th Grade Students Discuss Renewable Energy with Independence Solar Founder and President

As an extension of their nonfiction reading unit on renewable energy, fourth grade students met with Keith Peltzman, founder and president of Independence Solar and brother of Stern Center teacher Jaimie Fuller, who shared his experiences with solar projects, including his work distributing solar lamps in Cambodia.

Students applied their knowledge to ask informed questions as they discussed renewable energy, converting solar energy into electricity, calculating the costs of using solar panels, and comparing the effects of using renewable versus nonrenewable energy sources.

At Perelman, our teachers go beyond the curriculum to integrate real-world applications into lessons to bring learning to life!
