Teachers are busy setting up classrooms, sorting supplies, and meeting with colleagues to discuss curriculum and logistics before the school year. We did all of that during our in-service days this year, and we did something more! Perelman teachers and staff began this year by setting time aside to reflect together with Intention (Kavanah) – our theme this school year.
As we hurry through our busy lives, we may forget to act with Intention, to consider what strengths we can bring to a situation and where we need the strengths of others to support and guide us. In this spirit, our team at Perelman explored our character strengths during our in-service program at the Forman Center. Led by teachers and staff who had participated in a positive psychology training program, each of us identified what we consider our greatest strength and then took an online assessment that provided depth and insight about the character strengths we each possess.
We look forward to sharing our strengths with each other and our students this year at Perelman! If you’d like to learn more about your character strengths, we invite you to take the free survey that can be found at https://www.viacharacter.org/
