Life on the edge

Technology is a cornerstone of the Perelman difference, embraced and utilized by every member of our extended family and built into our innovative dual-language curriculum. We count on technology to expand our abilities to solve problems, think critically, write, research and connect our planet. In the lower schools, students work in state-of-the-art computer laboratories and with individual classroom laptops and Smart Boards, boosting deductive and divergent thinking and encouraging creative problem solving.

 

In middle school, technology helps improve students’ writing in both English and Hebrew, expands real-world global communications, and extends research skills. Each student has his own laptop computer, and classrooms are equipped with the latest technology, including interactive Smart Boards.

Perelman Jewish Day School ascribes to meet or surpass ISTE’s National Educational Technology Standards and Performance Indicators for Students, which include the following:

 

Creativity and innovation

Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

 

Communication and collaboration

Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

 

Research and information fluency

Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate and use information.

 

Critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making

Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.

 

Digital citizenship

Students understand human, cultural and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior.

 

Technology Operations and Concepts

Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems and operations.
